The fine print

Terms of use

The terms that apply when you use our website and our virtual hormone therapy services.

Last updated: October 9, 2026

Acceptance of these terms

These Terms of Use govern your use of the Your Functional Health website and our virtual health services. By using the website or booking an appointment, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the website or our services.

Website content is not medical advice

Information on this website is for general education only. It is not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and it does not replace an individual assessment. Do not start, stop or change any treatment based on website content. Using the website, contacting us, or booking a free discovery call does not create a nurse practitioner–patient relationship.

Emergencies

We do not provide emergency or urgent care. If you have a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. For non-urgent health advice at any hour, call HealthLink BC at 8-1-1.

Messages sent through the patient portal or by email are not monitored around the clock and should never be used for urgent concerns.

Who can use our services

  • You must be 18 years or older.
  • You must be physically located in British Columbia at the time of every consultation. We may ask you to confirm your location, and we may need to reschedule if you are outside BC.
  • You agree to give accurate, complete information about your identity, health history and medications, and to tell us about changes.

Our care and your relationship with us

A nurse practitioner–patient relationship begins when you complete your initial appointment and we agree to provide care. We may decline to provide care, or end a care relationship, where treatment is not clinically appropriate, outside our scope, or where these terms are not followed. If that happens we will give reasonable notice where possible and help you find other care.

We focus on hormone therapy. We do not replace your family doctor or nurse practitioner, and we encourage you to keep one for general and preventive care.

Virtual care

All consultations take place by secure video or phone. Virtual care has limits: we cannot do a physical examination, and technical problems can interrupt a visit. If we decide that you need an in-person assessment, we will tell you.

Please join from a private place with a reliable connection. You are responsible for the privacy of your own device and surroundings.

Prescriptions and lab testing

  • Prescribing is always at the nurse practitioner’s clinical judgment. Booking an appointment does not guarantee a particular prescription.
  • Hormone therapy requires appropriate testing before treatment and regular monitoring during it. Continuing a prescription depends on attending follow-up visits and completing recommended bloodwork.
  • Some medications, including testosterone, are controlled substances and are prescribed only in line with federal law and BCCNM standards.
  • Medications are filled by the pharmacy you choose. Lab tests are performed by independent laboratories. We are not responsible for their services, pricing or availability.

Fees, payment and cancellations

  • Current fees are listed on our website and at booking, in Canadian dollars. The discovery call is free.
  • Payment is due at the time of booking through our booking platform.
  • Our services are not covered by MSP. You may be able to claim visit fees through an extended health plan. We provide receipts but cannot guarantee coverage.
  • Lab and medication costs, if any, are separate and are billed by the lab or pharmacy.
  • Cancellations: please give at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Appointments cancelled with less notice, or missed, may be charged in full.
  • We may change our fees with notice posted on the website. Changes do not affect appointments already paid for.

No guarantee of results

Every person responds differently to treatment. We will always give you our best care, but we cannot guarantee any particular outcome. Results described on our website are examples, not promises.

Communication

Please use the secure messaging in your patient portal for health questions. We aim to reply within two business days. Clinical questions that need assessment may require an appointment.

Third-party websites and services

Our website links to third-party services, such as our booking platform and review sites. We do not control these services and are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices. Their own terms apply.

Website content

The content of this website, including text, logo and design, belongs to Your Functional Health or is used with permission. You may view and print it for personal, non-commercial use. Please do not copy, republish or distribute it without our written permission.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, the website is provided “as is,” and we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the website or reliance on its content. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under the law of British Columbia, or affects our professional obligations to our patients.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the applicable federal laws of Canada. Any dispute will be handled in the courts of British Columbia.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top shows when they were last revised. Continuing to use the website or our services after a change means you accept the updated terms.
